We have now reached the 11 month mark. It is hard to believe my little girls aren't so little anymore. They are changing by the day. I am amazed at the new things they do each day. So many things have happened in the last month.
Right after my last post Sophia started crawling. She went from not crawling at all to flying all over the house. She looks so cute crawling around even if I have to chase her as she gets into everything. Claire started crawling a few weeks later although she doesn't do it often. She still prefers to roll everywhere. If she really wants to get something and finds that it is too difficult to roll to she will army crawl instead. It is adorable to watch.
The girls love to stand at the back door and look outside. I don't think I'll ever have a clean door again. So many tiny handprints, which are pretty cute!
Claire now has her second tooth which has joined her other one on the front bottom. Sophia still has no teeth and shows no signs of any coming in.
The diaper changes at our house have become very difficult. The girls hate to sit still and have their diaper changed. I try to distract them with toys, cell phones, remotes and most of the time I am unsuccessful. For a while, I feel like the number of diapers we were going through a day was minimal, but now we are back up to using so many diapers each day. I guess it is the fact that they are eating more table food.
We went to the zoo for the first time. Matt joined me and all of my sisters to take the kiddos to the zoo. What a great man to put up with 4 non-stop talking women, not to mention the 8 kids we brought along!!! It was a fun day although I am not sure if Sophia and Claire were able to take it all in. Sophia loved the goat as you can see in the picture below. Claire and Daddy loved the monkeys!! It was a full day of fun and by the end of it the girls were sleeping soundly in their stroller. We even had a Gordon Hayward (Butler Bulldogs) sighting and Sophia and Claire's nephews were able to get autographs!
Normally when we go outside and play I always lay a blanket down. I have a huge fear of chemicals from the grass getting into my little girls mouths (because everything they find goes in their mouths these days). The first time I sat them on the grass they weren't sure what to do. They both held their legs and feet off the ground for quite a while. I guess the grass felt a little weird to them.
Sophia and Claire got to celebrate their Great Grandma Stella's 90th birthday this month. The entire Fitzpatrick clan was on hand to celebrate and needless to say, Claire and Sophia were never put down. They always had someone loving on them. It was a wonderful day full of great food, cornhole tournaments, football games and a lot of kids running around. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the wonderful life of such a special grandma!
The girls are talking a lot more clearly. They are starting to repeat the things I tell them and don't forget. Claire and Sophia are saying DOG, DUCK, YUM, BOAT, HI and love saying DADA and MAMA! Every time they see Georgie they say DOG!
Sophia has become our human whoopy cushion. She loves to make funny noises and blows up those big cheeks of hers to do it. She finds herself pretty funny! Sophia will blow you kisses if you find her in the perfect mood. She is just so loving and cuddly! She loves to walk behind her scooter and shopping cart. She is getting better by the day. She is pulling up on everything in sight and will walk side to side if she sees something worth putting in the effort for. She took two steps toward me one day but hasn't done it since. Sophia loves to say NO and does it by moving her head left to right over and over again. Any question you ask her she tells us NO.
Claire is still doing her funny fishy faces which never get old. She does this funny thing with her head where she pulls her head way back and then brings it forward really quickly.....her way of saying YES! Very dramatic! Claire loves to point at things and has even pointed out the duck in one of her books and happily said "DUCK". She points at things on our walk and loves to point out the dogs in the neighborhood and say "DOG". Claire is now climbing up stairs. Her friend Paxton Mills was here this week and she caught on to his stair climbing immediately. I guess it is finally time for me to get gates put up. I have put it off as long as I could.
As you can see the girls have changed a lot. I can't believe they will be 1 next month. We are looking forward to celebrating with family and friends. Part of me is sad the past 11 months have gone by so quickly but I am amazed at what Matt and I have accomplished. Having two babies is extremely challenging but it has been a blessing we would not change for anything. We have survived and come out the other side feeling more fulfilled than we ever imagined.
