WOW....9 months old. How did that happen? I always thought people were exaggerating when they said time flies by when you have kids but it really does. It makes me sad that the girls are not my itty bitty babies anymore but it is also so amazing to see how much they have grown and changed. I am so excited about all the things that are yet to come.
Sophia and Claire had their 9 month check-up and the stats are below. They are perfectly healthy and once again received an A+. I am sure I am like all mothers when I go to the doctor appointments....I am so proud to announce all the amazing things they are doing (even if the doctor doesn't ask). I always look forward to seeing how much they weigh and how tall they are.

I failed to talk about the girls first Valentine's Day in my last post. They are our favorite valentine's and they bring us so much love and joy. The first Valentine's they received were from Nanna and Pappaw. The girls were so excited to open them. They also received Valentine's from Great Grandma Stella. I always love that she sends them each a card even though it is the exact same card. They had gifts to open although they were still more excited about the packaging. Daddy bought the girls candy which I think he planned out so he could eat it all. HA!! He hopes to start his own tradition of candy and flowers for the girls. We also got them a variety of books about LOVE and a few Dr. Seuss books.
I made sure all the Olympic coverage was playing on the television each day. Claire did not seem interested as she is too busy to watch TV but my little Sophia took a liking to one of the most unusual Olympic sport....CURLING..... Every time it was on she would watch in amazement. If she wasn't in view of the TV she would stretch and peak around furniture to watch. It was hilarious. Of all sports; maybe our daughter will be a professional curler.
The girls are going through a bit of Mommy attachment. They do not like when I leave the room and even when I am in the room they are not happy unless I am holding them. If I had one little baby this would be easy but with two this has become complicated. I try to fool them by holding them both at the same time. This does not please them and they end up pulling each others hair. As my Mom says...they may just have to cry a little bit and get used to it. I guess I can't please everyone all the time.
The girls continue to fight over toys. They can each have the exact same toy in their hands but one is not enough they want both. They will do anything to get the toy from the other sister. Teaching them to share should be extremely interesting.
Sophia and Claire are both saying new words. Sophia is saying ba-ba, Hi Daddy and doggy. Claire woke up one morning at Nanna and Pappaw's and said Pappaw numerous times. It is an awesome feeling to hear them say new words. I am amazed that these little beings can catch on to things and begin repeating what they have heard me and Matt say.
We still don't have a crawler...the girls do not seem the least bit interested. It drives me crazy because I can't wait to see them crawl. My pediatrician made me feel much better. She told me it wasn't a milestone and they might not crawl at all. I have found out that my oldest sister never crawled and the rest of my sisters didn't care for it much either. Uncle Chris never crawled either. Maybe it just runs in the family. I am sure they will do it when they are ready and completely surprise us.
Claire absolutely loves to wave hi and bye. It has become her obsession. She even waves at Georgie when he enters and leaves the room. The cutest thing about it is that she doesn't just use one hand but both hands. It will be a really sad day for Matt and I when she stops doing this. It is adorable! Every time she waves it is so sincere. She even waves at the many people that come up to talk to us in the grocery, at the mall, etc. Sometimes she is waving at something above her and I assume she is waving at her angels that Mommy prays for each and every night.
Both girls have been clapping for a while but now they clap to say they are excited or happy about what just happened. If one is clapping the other follows suit and then we all clap together. They get a big kick of it.
Sophia and Claire are pulling up on everything. Claire practically pulls the exer-saucer over on top of herself trying to pull up on it. They are really curious and are excited to have a new view of things and to get into things they shouldn't.
Sophia has become our LOUD child. She used to be our little quiet girl but she has since decided it is her goal to always be one octave higher than her sister. Sometimes it shocks me how loud she can scream and then laughs at her success. Claire looks at her with shock and amazement.
Sophia is definitely our child who LOVES food. She takes after her Mommy. She screams at me when I have to give Claire a few spoonfuls of food. She is so focused on food she has figured out how to shift her body back and forth to move her highchair closer to the food bowls. I always push her back and within seconds she is scooting back into prime food position.
We are feeding the girls a lot more table food now. Up until 9 months we were just feeding them oatmeal, baby food, puffs and crackers. Since we got the ok from Dr. Freeman we are now giving them cottage cheese, yogurt, pancakes, toast, kiwi, bananas, cheerios, turkey.....and still trying out new things. So far they like most of it and enjoy feeding themselves. I am excited to try some eggs and fish.
I have been introducing the girls to the word "NO". This could come back to haunt me but I have heard it is good to introduce it earlier rather than later. I don't have to say it much to Sophia but Claire is my mischevious one and is always getting into something. At first Claire would hear no, look at me, laugh and then go back to what she was doing. Now she actually reacts to it 50% of the time and moves on to something else (probably more trouble..ha).
We had our first floater this evening!!! Bath time started with Sophia peeing on the bath mat. Then Claire decided she had to poop in the tub. I got her out of the tub, cleaned up and ran new water. I was washing the girls hair when Claire pooped a second time. I have never laughed so much about poop in my life. Claire seems to have a likening for poop...last week she decided to grab the poop out of her diaper and squish it around in her hand. I barely got it out of her hand when she decided tasting it would be a really nice idea....and the fingers went to the mouth. She did not seem phased by the odor or taste.
Although we have had a lot of swollen gums and drooling neither Claire or Sophia has teeth. Like I have said previously...I like it because I am not ready for them to look older. You do start to wonder if their are any teeth in their though. I was told that teeth that come in later are said to be healthier. I like that concept so I have chosen to accept it. HA!
The recent time change has not affected the girls in a bad way. They are actually sleeping 30 minutes to an hour later in the morning. Mommy and Daddy love that! It is weird putting my kids to bed when it is light out. I am glad they haven't seemed to notice yet.
We are so thankful that Spring is arriving and that we have had a few beautiful days so far. The girls and I have been on walks and to the park. I can see a big difference in all of us. Fresh air does wonders!!! I look forward to spending most of the Spring and Summer walking, at the park and in the pool. So much fun to come!
Since I was so delayed in updating the blog I probably won't post anything in a week for the 10 month mark. As you can see, the girls are really changing and blessing our lives every day!!!
