Week 19 Ultrasound

We had our BIG ultrasound today. They measured everything imaginable on both babies. It took about an hour and was the best hour ever! It is so much fun to see both girls and how they have changed. Yes, that is right, we confirmed that they are two girls. Sophia and Claire are absolutely PERFECT~that is not just their Mom talking....the doctor said so!!

Baby A continues to be our "wild" child. She never stops tossing, turning and poking at her sister. We were able to catch her sitting still for a minute and sucking her thumb. It was precious! Baby A loved the camera as well, she was practically posing for us.

Below is Baby A sucking here thumb....so cute!

Below is Baby A's profile, she is stretching and arching her back.

Baby B moved a lot more this time but she seems to be a bit more graceful with her movements. The nurse called her our little ballerina! She wasn't as thrilled about getting her picture taken but warmed up after a while. We were able to see Baby B sucking her thumb as well. It is just so cute!
Below is the picture of Baby B sucking her thumb.

Below is Baby B's profile, resting comfortably!

Both babies heart, brain, kidneys, bladder, brain, spinal cord, mouth, etc. are perfect. Everything was positive and we are so thankful and relieved. I am still amazed that I am carrying two precious girls. They have treated their Mom so well thus far, just a kick or turn here and there.
Below is an adorable picture of both babies. You can see that Baby B is laying on top of Baby A...as if they were in bunk beds. Absolutely amazing! We love Sophia and Claire so much already!

Baby Bump Week 19

I have now reached Week 19 of my pregnancy. This past Saturday I felt the first kick from the girls. I believe it was Baby A. I was so excited. Matt has cautioned me to be careful what I wish for...with two babies I am bound to feel it constantly in the upcoming months. I have continued to feel little pokes and kicks throughout the week but nothing major. I look forward to the time when Matt can feel Claire and Sophia kicking.
In the past three weeks my belly has completely transformed. I am amazed every day when I look down. It is hard to imagine what it will be like at 9 months.
I am still feeling great and sleeping well. My coworkers complement me on the fact that I am so upbeat and happy, never complaining. I like to think that is because Matt and I know how big of a blessing this experience truly is.
Matt continues to read to the babies every night. For those of you who know him really well he ad libs a lot of the books. The stories he comes up with are pretty funny. The girls have a goofy father awaiting them!! Matt had a dream the other night that we were actually having a boy and a girl. He woke up completely disappointed. I thought that was so cute....especially since he was a bit nervous in the beginning. He continues to think of all the wonderful things he'll get to enjoy by having two girls!!!
We head back to the doctor on Monday, January 19th to have another ultrasound and meet with our doctor. We look forward to updating you with their latest portraits and hopefully confirming one last time that yes it is two girls!

GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS!!!

Yes, we are having twin girls! We found out on Monday, December 29th but kept it to ourself until we could reveal the exciting news to our immediate family.

We did not find out the sex of the babies in the traditional way. We had our nurse write the sex of each baby down on a card and seal it in an envelope. That evening I drove to the mall and headed to Gymboree. I had this sweet gal in Gymboree pick out two sets of outfits, blankets, bibs, etc. to reflect the sex of each baby. While she did this I shopped around the mall. When I came back she had them boxed up and ready for me to take home!

Matt and I were able to open both boxes together and enjoy the moment in our own home. Matt started first and opened a box revealing a sweet little outfit with lady bugs all over it which said "Little Lady".

I opened the second box to reveal the same exact outfit. Matt was shocked. He expected to see a blue or green outfit. I think I did to.

We feel so blessed to be expecting two beautiful little girls. At this time we think their names will be Sophia Marie and Claire Abigail! We can't wait to meet our little girls and are thankful we can even out the girl/boy ratio in my family and introduce Matt's family to the beauty of having girls!
We hope you have enjoyed our exciting news!!!
